On this day in 1978, the then President Ziaur Rahman formed the BNP, bringing a new dimension to the country's politics.

The party flag will be hoisted atop all offices of the BNP and its front organisations across the country. Wreaths will be placed at Zia's grave in Chandrima Udyan at 10:00am.

A discussion will be held at Mahanagar Natya Mancha in Dhaka tomorrow.

Dhaka City BNP has drawn up a daylong cleanliness programme in different police stations in the capital. President of the BNP city unit Mayor Sadeque Hossain Khoka and General Secretary Abdus Salam urged all leaders and workers to participate in the programme.

BNP Secretary General and LGRD and Cooperatives Minister Abdul Mannan Bhuiyan asked all units of the party and its front organisations to celebrate the founding anniversary across the country.
