The authorities would furbish the houses of the speaker and deputy speaker during the Supreme Court (SC) stay order, officials said. Officials of Public Works Department and housing and public works ministry said they would proceed to accommodate the speakers in their new houses soon. Both speakers would be shifted to their official residences in next 30 days, they added. Yesterday's stay order allowed the authorities to finish construction works and interior decoration for the two-storied houses, they added. A ministerial source said household furnishings for the one-unit Residences were made ready and they would start accommodating the speakers in the JS compound soon. Housing and Public Works Minister Mirza Abbas said it was the responsibility of the Parliament Secretariat to oversee final touches to the official residences of the speakers. "It is possible that when the houses were built, they (Parliament Secretariat) also ordered to make furniture for the houses," he said adding that he was not aware of any directive to complete furbishing the residences immediately.
