He made the appeal at a meeting with Australian High Commissioner Lorraine Barker at the Communications Ministry on the post-flood restructure and rehabilitation works for the road, rail communications and transport sectors.

Huda emphasised the importance of implementing the Dhaka Eastern Bypass project, proposed jointly by the Water Resources and Communications ministries.

He said cooperation of the friendly donor countries and international development partners would be needed to implement the project to keep the capital free from flood.

The Australian High Commissioner expressed her sympathy for the victims of the devastating flood and talked with the minister about humanitarian relief activities, assessment of flood damage to infrastructure and assistance to post-flood rehabilitation programme.
