More donations to PM's Relief Fund


More organisations, ministries and institutions continued to make donations in cash and kind to the Prime Minister's Relief Fund responding to the call of Prime Minister Khaleda Zia to help the flood- affected people.

Some 24 organisations and ministries yesterday donated Tk 4,76,73,000 through cheques and 50 metric tons of rice to the PM's Relief Fund.

Khaleda received the donations at her office and thanked representatives of the respective organisations for their generosity.

Among the organisations, Bangladesh Textile Mills Association (BTMA) donated Tk 1.05 crore and Eastern Bank Ltd Tk 1.05 crore. BTMA chairman MA Awal and Eastern Bank chairman Azimuddin Ahmed handed over the cheques to the Prime Minister.

Other donations include one day's salary of the employees of six ministries -- Land, Fisheries & Livestock, Youth & Sport, Education, Commerce, and Primary & Mass Education.

The day's donations also came from Channel I, Premier Bank, Pragati Insurance, National University, Summit Group, RAOWA, International Islamic University, Chittagong, Kurigram Samity, Bangladesh Women Sports Association, Association of BCS general education cadre, REHAB, Bangladesh Finished Leather and Leather Goods Exporters Association, Taj Salt, Dinajpur district BNP and BIISS.
