The operations would be conducted by the Rab unit-6, stationed in Khulna, sources said here yesterday.

The team is now collecting information about criminals and their godfathers, especially political leaders sheltering them.

The information being collected through different intelligence and security agencies are being carefully scrutinised ahead of the opetration, the sources said.

The Rab unit-6 is under the command of Lt. Col. Emdadul Huq. The unit will have 688 personnel and 644 of them have already joined and the rest 150 in under training in Dhaka. They will join soon.

In last three months, at least 17 murders were committed in Barisal district.
