Girl students lock Principal's office
Our Correspondent, Patuakhali
Hundreds of students of Patuakhali Government Women's College brought out a procession on the campus on Sunday demanding removal of their principal and a teacher.Students also locked the room of the principal and all the class rooms of the college. The demands came following principal's failure to punish a teacher for his objectionable behaviour. The controversial teacher is ATM Harun-or-Rashid, an associate professor of Philosophy Depart-ment who proposed love to a female student of Class 12 named Shathi through a letter on July 29. Later, Shathi informed the matter to the principal for taking necessary action on the same day. But the principal did not take any punitive measure against Harun. In protest, the students boycotted their classes and brought out the procession. Being informed, Additional Deputy Commissioner (ADC- General) Bazlur Rashid rushed there and unlocked the principal's room. On contact, Acting Principal Abdus Sattar told this correspondent he formed a committee headed by Associate Professor Lutfunnesa Begum to investigate the allegations against Harun-or-Rashid. Meanwhile, the matter was already informed to the concerned DG.
