An enthusiastic audience turned out to see the dance drama Ritu Abhijan (A journey through seasons) last Thursday at the Experimental Theatre Hall of Shilpakala Academy. The performers were from Nrityadhara, a cultural organisation. The play, written by Saimon Zakaria, is the first of its kind presented by Nrityadhara. It was directed by a group of dancers such as Minu Haque, Tamanna Rahman, Dipa Khandaker, Munmun Ahmed, Kabirul Islam Ratan and Anisul Islam Hiru. Performed to a packed hall room, the stage-show wowed the audience with its brilliant depiction of the beauty of the six seasons of the country. 'We tried to symbolise the spirit of the seasons. Our performers chose different mudras according to the different moods of the seasons,' said Minu Haque, convenor of Nrityadhara. She said the production was a regular feature in their cultural calendar. The show was arranged in that particular hall to attract the audience --a phenomenon that began with the National Drama Festival . They performed in two shows marking the World Dance Day and Rabindra-Nazrul birth anniversaries at Mahila Samity Mancha in Baily Road recently. Along with the students, the teachers and directors of Nrityadhara dance organisation performed in the show. 'We look forward to arranging such professional shows every month,' Minu Haque told The Daily Star.
