125 medical teams start work today

A total of 125 medical teams of Bangladesh Medical Association (BMA), Doctors Association of Bangladesh (DAB) and Primary Health Care Unit of Health Directorate will treat the patients at different flood shelters in the city from today.This was decided at a meeting of Dhaka City Corporation (DCC) at Nagar Bhaban with Mayor Sadeque Hossain Khoka in the chair. Of the total teams, 40 of BMA, 20 of DAB and 45 of Health Directorate will treat the patients at 227 shelters in 65 wards, said the meeting sources. Earlier, DCC deployed 60 medical teams to treat the people suffering from diarrhoea and other waterborne diseases. According to DCC Flood Control Room, more than 2,60,000 people are still staying at flood shelters. The medical teams will work round the clock in association with the ward commissioners and local lawmakers.
