Landlady Hafiza Khatun told police that the incident took place sometime between Thursday and yesterday morning.

"We went to our house in Sutrapur on Thursday keeping our rented Dhanmondi house on road No. 11 under lock and key," Hafiza said in the first information (FIR) report.

"Returning home this morning, we found the gate open and almirahs and suitcases ransacked and gold ornaments, cash, mobile phone and other valuables missing," the FIR read.

Sources said there were 200 tolas of gold and Tk 17,000 in cash.

Police could not recover the booty or arrest anyone until midnight last night.
