Hartal for gas passes off in Rajshahi

The Rajshahi Rakkha Sangram Parishad (RRSP) enforced a dawn-to-dusk hartal in the city yesterday demanding gas supply to the district through pipeline.The Awami League and left-leaning 11-party alliance extended their support to the strike that almost switched off normal activity. Police arrested two pickets -- Babu and Wadud -- for creating chaos during the strike. The RRSP also held a meeting that was addressed by, among others, Advocate Mohammad Yeahia, Engineer Tajul Islam and RRSP Convenor Zamat Khan.
