Panchagarh BU complete the Quorum

Panchagarh Brothers Union completed the 12-team final round line-up of the fourth Nitol-Tata National Football League when they eliminated Naogaon Prabaha Sangha 5-4 in tiebreaker at Natore Stadium yesterday.

The zonal final rolled into shootout stage after the regulation time ended one all.

Shahinul Haq put Brothers ahead in the 11th minute but Golap Hossain struck the equalizer in the 32nd minute.

Panchagarh Brothers joined Najirpara Krira Chakra of Chandpur, Jhenaidah Mohammedan, Bagerhat Unmochon Club and Bangladesh Air Force in the finals along with six automatic qualifiers Muktijoddha Sangsad, Mohammedan Sporting Club, Abahani Krira Chakra, Brothers Union, Sheikh Russel Krira Chakra and Chittagong Mohammedan.

The final round is scheduled to begin from July 10 but league committee secretary Manjur Hossain Malu said that it might be delayed for a few days.

"We can only start the final round after getting BTV's confirmation since the state-run television will provide live coverage of all the games. The BTV is currently preoccupied with the Parliament session," said Malu.

Twelve teams will split into two groups to take part in the first phase, which will be held on round robin league basis. Top three teams from each group will play the six-team final phase.
