My country ...

Accepting all the unfortunate things about Bangladesh, I think there are things which we should feel proud of..

1. In the west, a government's action like Iraq invasion is judged on the economic consequence on their life (oil price) not on a moral ground. In my country the government is criticised on the moral/ethical grounds as well as economic achievements/failures.

2. I will teach my daughter to be suspicious of adults as there are a lot of paedophiles in the west. In my country if she walks in the street people will look at a beautiful girl like their own daughter.

3. President of my country does not make money by selling books on his extramarital affairs.

4. We don't consider our elderly parents as our burden.

5. We don't need DNA test of a baby to establish the name of the father, we trust our partners.

6. If I die in my country my friends and neighbours will rush to help and most of the things will be done on a voluntary basis ensuring the highest dignity of myself and my family. In the west, if I die on a weekend my family will have to wait till Monday to get an appointment with the Funeral Director.
