Indian Airlines awards best travel agents

The Indian Airlines on Wednesday awarded its top five travel agents -- three from Dhaka and two from Chittagong -- for their performances in ticket sales for the airlines.

Kafiluddin Khan, managing director of Aviamost, received the first prize followed by KD Pal, managing director of Victory Travel, and NC Sarkar, managing director of Padma Travels in Dhaka.

From Chittagong, ABM Mahabubul Huq, managing director of SB Aga and Company, received the first prize followed by Neo Mendis, managing director of NM Express.

Speaking at the function, Indian High Commissioner to Bangladesh Veena Sikri said Indian Airlines has potential for increasing its market share in Bangladesh as some five lakh Bangladeshi travellers get Indian visas annually.

She said such a huge number of visas reflects the potentiality of increased flights from Dhaka to Indian destinations and beyond. "Therefore, Indian Airlines should plan to expand by increasing flight frequency."

Indian Airlines Regional Director M I Balakrishnan also spoke at the function.
