UEFA Euro 2004 Portugal
Advocaat unsure

Dutch coach Dick Advocaat said he was undecided on his next move after his side lost their Euro 2004 semi-final to Portugal here on Wednesday.

Advocaat said he may or may not stay around for the 2006 World Cup qualifying campaign after a European championships which saw the Dutch perform well in parts but ultimately flatter to deceive.

"I think the best team won today. I think they deserved to win, they deserved to go to the final," said Advocaat of Portugal.

"They way they played, especially the first half, they controlled the game and we couldn't do what we wanted to do. I think they had the better quality."

Advocaat then addressed his future.

"There will be a press statement from the Dutch federation next week, then you will know," said Advocaat, the implication being he will hand over the reins to someone else.

"There is a very good reason to go on but also a reason to stop. My decision will not depend just on this result," said Advocaat.

"I must compliment the group because they worked well in a good spirit to get us as far as the semi-finals.
