Expat freed after Being abducted from ZIA

The Rapid Action Battalion (Rab) forces freed an abducted expatriate Bangladeshi national on Wednesday, five hours after he was picked up from Zia International Airport (ZIA) upon his arrival at the airport.

A Rab team rescued Abdul Khaleq, 31, at around 7:00pm while two of his captors were also nabbed, an elite force press release said yesterday.

However, it did not mention from where they recovered Khaleq or his abductors.

Khaleq flew in Dhaka from Saudi Arabia at about 2:00pm by a Bangladesh Biman flight. A five-member gang kidnapped him as soon as he stepped out of the ZIA and demanded Tk 10,000 ransom from his family.

The victim's mother Fatema Begum filed a complaint with Rab-1 office at Uttara and the eight-member anti-crime team retrieved him, the press release added.

A case was filed with Airport Police Station.
