BNP nominates Prof Mannan

Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) yesterday announced former state minister Prof Abdul Mannan as the ruling four-party alliance candidate for the by-polls in Gazipur-2 constituency of the Jatiya Sangsad.A meeting of the BNP Parliamentary Board (BNPPB) with BNP Chairperson and Prime Minister Khaleda Zia in the chair finalised the nomination for the by-polls scheduled for August 1. Gazipur-2 constituency fell vacant following the death of opposition Awami League Lawmaker Ahsanullah Master. Earlier, the BNPPB interviewed six aspirants who applied for the alliance ticket to contest the by-election.
