At least 12 students were injured at Hathazari in Chittagong as the activists of Jatiyatabadi Chhatra Dal (JCD) and Bangladesh Chhatra League (BCL) clashed yesterday.According to sources, the clash ensued on Kuwaish Burishchar Degree College campus at around 11.30am when some JCD activists swooped on a BCL procession brought out in support of tomorrow's hartal. BCL activists also chased BNP's student front adherents and at least 12 students were injured during the hour-long fighting. Of them, seriously wounded BCL activists Ridwan and Zahed Munna were rushed to Chittagong Medical College Hospital (CMCH) with head injuries, witnesses said. A team of Hathazari police went to the spot and brought the situation under control, they added. The BCL submitted a memorandum to Officer-in-charge of Hathazari Police Station Mahfuz Alam alleging that police officials refused to take any case. Mahfuz, however, claimed that he did not receive any complaint. He also denied the clash incident saying, "BCL and JCD activists only chased each other for a brief period and both sides resolved the matter through a dialogue."
