13 Satkhira Newspersons receive PBCP death threat

Outlawed organisation Purbo Banglar Communist Party (PBCP-Janajuddho) yesterday threatened to kill 13 journalists of Satkhira.

Sending a letter to Satkhira Press Club leaders, the regional commander of the underground organisation said the newspersons would be 'executed' by July 18, Monirul Islam Moni, local correspondent of daily Ittefaq, told The Daily Star in the afternoon.

"Class enemies won't be allowed to live any more," he quoted the letter as saying. It also asked local journalists not to 'misreport' their activities, he added.

Those who received death threat are Monirul Islam (Ittefaq), Wazed Kachi (Inqilab), Altaf Hossain (Sangram), Habibur Rahman Sattar (Purbanchal), Ibrahim Hossain (Khabar), Rafiqul Islam (Kafela), Mostafizur Rahman (Juger Barta), Idris (Kafela), Sheikh Masud Hossain (Lok Somaj), Zillur Rahman (Prabah), Shawkat (Al-Mujadded) and Mukul Reza.
