One criminal was shot dead by his gang members and an alleged robber beaten to death in separate incidents in the city and district yesterday.The dead was identified as Shahadat Hossain alias Jubayer, 28. Police and witnesses said, Jubayer was shot by his accomplices, reportedly following a dispute over extorted money at Shamsi Colony of Lalkhan Bazar under Khulshi Police Station. He was rushed to Chittagong Medical College Hospital where the doctors declared him dead. Jubayer, son of Jane Alam of Cosmopolitan R/A under Panchlaish thana, was reportedly a BCL cadre and an accused in six criminal cases, sources said. In another incident, four alleged robbers were caught by the local people while fleeing after committing a robbery at Khizirpur village under Boalkhali upazila Tuesday night. The mob beat up them killing one Zulfiker, 30, on the spot. The rest three identified as Nurul Islam, Forkan and Faisal were handed over to police, sources said. Two separate cases were filed in this connection.
