Two more aborigines died from Kala Azar on Tuesday in Godagari upazila, raising the toll to eight in last one month. Ten more are now suffering. The victims are Patras Saren, 14 and Anjulina Hadsa, 45 of Daharlangi village. They died at their homes. The infected include Joshef Hadsa, Lomi Murmu, Laijina Hadsa, Alpona Hadsa and Solomi Murmu. The infected persons were taken to local hospital following the two deaths. The eight deaths from the disease earlier were at Deopara, Nabaibottala, Nirghanta, Sundarpur, and Daingpara villages where 30 people were infected. Local people alleged that the fatal disease continued taking its toll as the health department did not take proper preventive and curative measures. They alleged that the upazila health complex authorities identified 57 people affected with the disease in last one month but did not treat them on the plea for lack of medicine and funds. Upazila health official Abdus Salam denied the allegation. "Aborigines do not following their instructions to avoid the disease and even are reluctant to come to hospital fearing cost", he said.
