A three-member special intelligence team yesterday arrived here to carry out parallel probe into the militant training camp in Hathazari unearthed by police on Tuesday. The team members also questioned two suspects, currently held on five-day remand since Wednesday, at Hathazari Police Station. Three policemen -- sub-inspectors Moniruzzaman and Nurul Afsar and constable Alauddin -- of the police station were suspended yesterday for what the police authorities said was negligence to duty. But it has been alleged that the policemen were suspended for failing to stop press photographers from taking snaps of the two militants arrested by police. Failure to conceal the identity of Mir Anis, cousin of a state minister, also brought the authorities' wrath on them. Police in a predawn raid busted the secret arms training centre, arrested the two suspected militants and seized 24 dummy wooden AK-47 rifles, two tents and a binocular. Police have launched a manhunt to arrest the masterminds and trainers of the training centre. They raided different places in the city to nab madrasa teachers Mir Anis and Kaderi Hujur, who are believed to be the masterminds of the training camp, but returned empty-handed. "We're desperately searching for them, as we got a clue to the shrine blast after quizzing the two suspects," said Additional Superintendent of Police Hasib Aziz. "We have information that some people from Sylhet received militant training from remote hilly camps run by some madrasa teachers," Hasib added.
