Afghanistan: Blossoming from Destruction
A photographic experience by Bangladeshi souls

Shankor Sawjal and Aly Zaker went to Afghanistan recently to deal with communication issues needing specialist attention. The country, recovering from the ravages of war, captivated Sawjal and Zaker with its beauty and its innocent people, especially their extraordinary resilience in rebuilding their lives and their country out of the rubble of destruction.

Sawjal and Zaker captured with their cameras the glimpses of this extraordinary land. The result is a series of images which they would like to share: the beautiful world that they discovered, the warmth that reached their hearts and their enthusiasm for capturing these elements through the camera.

Titled Afghanistan: Blossoming from Destruction, the display organised by Asiatic Society, opens today at the Bengal Gallery of Fine Arts, Dhanmondi. Akmal Ghani, Ambassador of Afghanistan to Bangladesh, will inaugurate the exhibition today at 4.30pm and it will remain on till June 4 from 12 noon to 8pm.

The prints displayed are for sale. The proceeds will be donated for treatment and rehabilitation of mine victims in Afghanistan.
