Bush and Blair

The newly elected prime minister of Spain took very little time to order the withdrawal of 1,300 Spanish soldiers who were deployed in Iraq under the command of the US . Honduras and Dominican Republic also announced the decision to withdraw their armed personnel from the coalition forces in Iraq. Poland, a very important strategic partner of the US, has declared its intention to reconsider the situation for keeping troops in Iraq. At last, the US and the UK are trying to persuade the UN for a fresh resolution on Iraq.

Little more than a year back, US President George W Bush and British PM Tony Blair started the second Gulf War in the name of operation Iraqi freedom. Initially, the allegation was that Iraq possessed WMD. The weapons inspectors, after completing a tiring search, were almost sure that the allegation was baseless. The US and the UK were not satisfied and issued a deadline for President Saddam to quit Iraq. The UN was made virtually a puppet to watch the showdown. For the first time in the history of the UN, it looked so helpless.

What is the scale of damage that the war of Iraqi freedom has caused? To say in one sentence.... it has simply devastated one of the world's most blessed civilisations. The number of deaths will never be known correctly. The infrastructure of the country was brought to the dusts by heavy bombardment. The oil resource of Iraq was targeted and is being exploited.

Recently, the evidences of brutal torture and sexual abuse of the Iraqi PoWs by US and British soldiers have revealed the ugly faces of the invaders. This is nothing less than war crime. Though Mr. Bush and Mr. Blair vowed that those isolated images did not represent the US or the UK, but we know how the Americans killed the Red Indians and how the British colonised more than half the world and made the poor people their slaves.

So Mr. Bush and Mr. Blair should be made to explain why they have destabilised the world...killing people of Iraq and other countries....destroying Iraq and provoking terrorist attacks on civilians.
