Tributes paid to Manik Mia


Speakers at a discussion yesterday paid tributes to the memory of Tofazzal Hossain Manik Mia, founder-editor of the daily Ittefaq, and recalled his contribution to journalism.

Manik Mia was a fearless journalist and he dedicated his life to the cause of emancipation of the people and democracy, they said.

His political column which he wrote under the pen name 'Musafir' earned him great popularity, they said.

Journalists and employees of the Ittefaq organised the discussion at its office to mark the 35th anniversary of death of Manik Mia.

Noted journalists Fayez Ahmed, KG Mustafa, Al-Mujahid and Habibur Rahman Milon, politician Noor Alam Siddiqui and two sons of Manik Mia, Barrister Moinul Hosein and Anwar Hossain Manju, took part in the discussion.
