Three persons including a woman were killed in Jhenidah, Meherpur and Rajbari on Saturday.In Jhenidah, miscreants chopped a local Awami League (AL) leader Bikash Chandra Das, 42, as he made public an incident of payment of toll to 'outlaws'. Bikash, Bakergachi ward AL president and a quack paid toll amounting to 50,000 taka to a gang allegedly belonging to an outlawed party who warned him not to make it public. But as the incident was exposed, the gang swooped on Bikash on the fateful night. He was returning home from Bakergachi bazaar at about 11 that night when miscreants took him to the nearby Subidpur field and chopped him. Later, police recovered the body and sent it to Jhenidah Sadar Hospital. In another incident in Meherpur district, a husband beat to death his wife at village Mahiskhola in Gangni upazila in the early hours of Saturday. Villagers caught the killer husband Anwarul, son of Hous Ali. They handed him over to police. Police said Anwarul used to beat his wife Dolly, 25, and mother of a four-year-old child after their marriage eight years ago. Most frequently he asked his wife Dolly to bring dowry from her father's house, but he refused. On the fateful night he beat to death Dolly. Family members and villagers caught him and handed him over to police. Police sent the body to Meherpur Sadar Hospital. In the third incident in Rajbari, outlaws slaughtered a teenage boy as he protested physical torture on his father. The incident occurred at village Charrampur in Pangsha upaizla in the early hours of Saturday. Pangsha police said a gang led by Zohurul stormed into the house of Azad Biswas and began to beat him over a previous land dispute. At one stage Azad's son Rubel, 12, rushed there and protested. Then the miscreants took him to a nearby field and slaughtered him. Critically injured Azad was admitted to Rajbari Sadar Hospital.
