JCD men attack hotel owner for toll

A hotel owner was severely injured in an attack by Jatiyatabadi Chhatra Dal (JCD) activists on Saturday. Anisuzzaman Lenin, owner of Shourav Hotel was injured when JCD activists led by district unit president Abu Hossain Babu and Krishak Dal leader Bazlur Rahman attacked him at about 2:30 pm on Saturday. They also ransacked the hotel and looted the sale proceeds at arms point. While leaving they gave death threats to Lenin and his staff asking them not to inform police about the matter. According to eye-witnesses and police, the attack on the hotel owner came when he requested JCD activists to behave properly as they were taunting at male clients and teasing a female client. Afterwards they broke chairs, tables and glasses. The hotel owner alleged that JCD leader Abu Hossain Babu demanded 50,000 taka as toll from him three days back, but he refused. 'The attack was made for refusing the toll', he said. When asked, Khulna thana oficer-in-charge (OC) informed a move is underway to file a case under Speedy Trial Act.
