Dacoity at NGO office in Barisal

Armed dacoits hacked the night guard and tied up the office manager of a Christian NGO and looted about Tk 70,000 in cash and valuables from its office at Jobarpar village in Agailjhara upazila in Barisal district in the early hours of Sunday. The night guard, Daniel Bayen (45), is being treated at gaila health complex. Police recovered some sharp weapons from the NGO office yesterday. According to Agailjhara police and the victims, the dacoits entered the office of Samaj Unnoyan Karjokram (social development activity) at about 2 am Sunday. They hacked night guard Daniel and tied him up. They then entered the residence of manager John Tarun Mondol on the same premises. The dacoits tied up John, assaulted his wife and daughter and confined them. They took away looted Tk 70,000 in cash and valuables, one mobile phone and a motor cycle. The Agailjhara Upazila Nirbahi Officer (UNO) visited the spot yesterday. John has filed case with Agailjhara thana without naming any accused. Neither any of the dacoits could be arrested not the looted goods recovered till filing of the report yesterday afternoon.
