Hotelier gunned down in city

Muggers gunned down a hotelier chasing him half a kilometre down a narrow lane in the city's Lalbagh area last night.

Humayun Kabir, 25, collapsed in a Moulavibazar lane taking four bullets in the thighs when he tried to outrun the gang on his way home to Nazimuddin Road from Ruma Hotel at Babubazar.

Up to six snatchers who stopped him at Imamganj at 9:45pm snatched his mobile phone, gold bracelet and moneybag, before making a quick getaway leaving him behind with fatal wounds gushing out blood.

Humayun's relatives raced to the scene on hearing the news and took him to Dhaka Medical College Hospital where he died an hour later.
