Many years ago I met an officer at a Washington reception who introduced himself to me as so and so of the Turkish Army. "A very distinguished Army", I responded. That was my subtle way of reminding the officer that all the glory and fame earned by Turkey was under the banner of Islam. Isn't it time for the Turks to stop toeing the Western line, and say good-bye to the European Union?
