A renowned writer and activist Jahanara Imam spearheaded a popular movement that sought to bring the collaborators of the liberation war to trial and ban the communal politics in the country in 1992.

As a leading organiser of pro-liberation forces, she single handedly led the unprecedented movement that gained widespread support within a very short time.

As a well-established writer of many books, the publication of her diary as a book 'Ekatturer Dinguli' (Of Blood and Fire) is widely considered to be one of the most read publication on the liberation war.

Jahanara Imam died in 1994.

To observe the day, Ekatturer Ghatak Dalal Nirmul Committee will lay wreath on her grave at 8.00am and organises a seminar at the WVA auditorium in Dhanmondi at 3.00pm today.
