'What Jalil will say now?'
Rejected forces creating anarchy, Milon tells public meeting

State Minister for Education ANM Ehsanul Haque Milon has said "forces rejected by people" are engaged in conspiracies to dislodge an elected government through unconstitutional means.

They are creating anarchy to capture power by any means, he told a public meeting on the premises of Smriti Amlano in the town on Wednesday, the first day of Awami League- called two-day countrywide hartal.

He ridiculed AL General Secretary Abdul Jalil's April 30 deadline and 'trump card' for fall of the government.

"What he (Jalil) will say now?

"Will he say I did not mean April 30 of 2004?" Milon said jokingly.

All these have turned farcical as the people have also rejected their hartal call, he said.

Milon alleged that democracy did not taken root in the country in ten years because of AL's undemocratic practices.

The state minister said that the BNP government will not resign a day before expiry of its five-year term.

They should not realise that people will never be with them in any undemocratic practice, he said.

At the meeting, about 500 local leaders and workers of Awami League and Jatiya Party (JP) led by JP leader Anisur Rahman joined BNP by presenting flowers and sheaf of paddy to the Milon and Nilphamari district BNP president Shahrin Islam Tuhin.

Milon urged AL to join parliament session to show respect to the people's wishes. "People voted them to ventilate their problems in parliament, not to create anarchy on streets", Milon said.

Addressing the meeting, Anisur Rahman said they joined BNP to strengthen the hands of Khalada Zia to carry forward the "politics of production".

Those who joined BNP include Anwarul Ferdous Ranju, join convener of Sadar unit of JP; former Chhatra League (AL's student front) general secretary Jahangir Chowdhury and Jubo League joint convener Abu Bakar Siddique and Jagpa leader Ismail Hossen.

The meeting was addressed by, among others, district BNP Secretary Anisul Arefin Chowdhury, Jamal-e-Islami Ameer Mujammil Haq and BNP central leader Alamgir Sarkar.

Before the public meeting, Milon opened a 'Temple-based Library and Mass Literacy Programme" at the Kalibari (a temple complex) in the town.
