According to witnesses, a group of ruling party cadres attacked Proshika office at Ulania Bandar at around 10:00pm on Thursday. They ransacked the office and looted valuables including furniture and cash.

The same group attacked the NGO office at Mehendiganj in the early hours of yesterday and beat up caretaker Md Hiron Mia to leave the office. They took away 11 motorcycles, computer, TV, furniture, cash and other valuables from the office, said the witnesses.

They said Md Mukhter and Md Sujan, convenor and general secretary of Mehendiganj units of Jubo Dal and Jatiyatabadi Chhatra Dal, led the attacks.

The staff of the two offices went into hiding after the launch of a crackdown against the NGO employees in Dhaka, Manikganj and other areas.
