Attack on CU students condemned

Jatiya Samajtantrik Dal (JSD)-backed Bangladesh Chhatra League (BCL) and Progatishil Chhatra Jote (PCJ), a combine of left-leaning student organisations, yesterday condemned the attack on general students of Chittagong University (CU) on Tuesday.The BCL brought out a procession and held a rally to protest the attack and demanded immediate arrest and punishment to policemen and Jatiyatabadi Chhatra Dal (JCD) activists responsible for the incident. BCL President Shariful Kabir Swapan, General Secretary Ali Hasan Tarun, Sazzad Hossain, Hossain Ahmed Tafsir, Yunusur Rahman, Selim Hossain and Kanok Barmon addressed the rally. The BCL also formed a human chain on the campus demanding arrest of Jamaat lawmaker Delwar Hossain Saidee for instigating the attack on Prof Humayun Azad and an end to the distortion of history of the liberation war. The PCJ also brought out a procession and held a rally on the campus to protest the attack on CU students and demanded immediate arrest and punishment of the culprits responsible for the attack. It also demanded immediate release of the jote President Khalequzzaman Lipon. PCJ leaders Rahman Mizan, Baki Billah and Rafiqul Islam Sujon addressed the rally.
