The central bank made the circular on the heels of press reports on rumours that the five-taka denomination coin has been withdrawn.

The BB circular ,however,urged the people to stay alert while transacting the coins, as law enforcers agency recently seized some counterfeit coins and substances that are used to forge five-taka coins,from Keranigonj area.

According to the circular, the pictures of Jamuna Bridge and water lily, which are engraved on both the sides of the coins, are more obscure in the forged coins than those in the real ones.
