7 doctors, staff in Sirajganj suspended for duty neglect

The director general of the directorate of health services yesterday instantaneously suspended seven doctors and staff, while on a surprise visit to an upazila health complex in Sirajganj district, he found them absent from the duties. A health directorate source said that during his sudden visit to Chouhali upazila health complex from 10:30am to 11:30 am yesterday, the director general Prof Mizanur Rahman found Dr Lokman Hakim, Dr Harun-ur Rashid, Shariful Islam, office assistant, A K Shamsul Huq, lab technician, Md Selim Uddin, Osman Gani, (MLSS) Md Suja Mia (cook) missing from duties and ordered for their instant suspension for negligence of duties. Suspended doctors and staff of Chouhali upazila health complex would be transferred to the Chiottagong Hitll Tracts, the source added. On the same day Prof Rahman paid a surprise visit also to Nagarpur upazila health complex under Tangail district,where he found Dr Mozzamel Huq on unauthorised leave since March 1 this year. A show cause notice was served on Mozzamel Huq yesterday.
