Tarique can't dodge blame for govt's failures: AL
Staff Correspondent
Opposition Awami League yesterday said ruling BNP Joint Secretary General Tarique Rahman simply cannot dodge blame for the 'misrule and failures of the government', as he is widely accused of virtually running the administration from Hawa Bhaban."It appears that he (Tarique) is unwilling to own up any responsibility to the government's failure," said AL Organising Secretary and opposition leader Sheikh Hasina's Political Secretary Saber Hossain Chowdhury briefing newsmen at the party's Dhanmondi office. When everyone is blaming Tarique for dictating terms on the administration from Hawa Bhaban and for the absence of the rule of law and widespread corruption, he was avoiding his responsibility to save his skin, Saber told reporters. Saber was commenting on recent statements of Tarique, the eldest son of Prime Minister Khaleda Zia, made during his recent visit to a newspaper office. Saber claimed that by his own statement Tarique acknowledged government's negative actions when he said he (Tarique) would bring about positive changes if and when he wields power. He accused Tarique of instigating criminal activities by labelling the attack made on former president AQM Badruddoza Chowdhury as a 'staged drama.' Saber wondered how could Tarique bring about positive changes by giving responsibilities to a section of youths who believe only in making money and flexing muscle.
