Strike at Barisal medicine factory

Over 150 employees and workers of Medimate Pharmaceuticals stopped work yesterday demanding provident fund, gratuity and salary hike. The striking employees also held a rally in front of the factory at Rupatali in the city and did not allow any body to entire the factory. They said the management at a meeting with them on March 21 promised to fulfil their demand by March 30. They have stopped work as the management did not keep their promise. Factory manager Sanaul Haque Chanu, when contacted, refused to make any comment. Police have been deployed on the factory premises.
