Ranieri cloud cleared

Chelsea's Russian oil billionaire owner Roman Abramovich and chief executive Peter Kenyon have held clear-the-air talks with Claudio Ranieri over the managerial crisis at the English Premiership club. Ranieri shook hands with the pair at the end of the hour-long meeting and the pair pledged to give him their full support until the end of the season. Kenyon reportedly apologised for the way Ranieri has been treated in recent weeks as Chelsea tried to convince England coach Sven-Goran Eriksson to become the new manager. But he was offered no guarantees about next season. "We are now all committed to get the most out of the rest of the season. We're all focused and as far as I'm concerned, there are no problems between me and those who run Chelsea Football Club," Ranieri said. However, Ranieri accepts he will be replaced even if he wins the Champions League or the Premiership title. Abramovich and Kenyon know the Chelsea manager is hugely popular with the fans and has strong support among players like John Terry and Frank Lampard.
