4 to die for killing one in Barisal

A court here yesterday sentenced four people to death for killing a person in March last year.Judge MA Matin of Barisal Speedy Trial Tribunal (STT) pronounced the verdict in absence of the four convicts and acquitted eight others of the charge of murder. The persons condemned to death are: Tipu Gazi, 30, Mati Gazi, 35, Shohel Gazi, 25, and Haroon Gazi, 30, of Khalishakhali village of Patuakhali district. The prosecution story in brief is that a group of criminals including the death penalty convicts killed one Haroon Gazi, 28, son of Mokbul Gazi of Khalishakhali village of Patuakhali district over a previous enmity on the night of March 23 last year. His father Mokbul Gazi filed a case on March 24 with Patuakhali police against 13 people in this connection. Police submitted a charge sheet against 12 people on May 31 last year.
