22,300 kg hemp recovered at B'baria


BDR recovered 22,300 kilograms of hemp (ganja) from Kalikachcha border area in Sarail upazila on Wednesday.

Acting on a tip-off, the border security force of 7 Rifle Battalion led by Havilder Tuffazzal and Naik Md Anwar Hussain raided different places including Akawra railway station, Mygrabagar and Mosjid Para and recovered the hemp, smuggled from India.

During the drive, BDR also recovered 854 bottles of phensidyl and 37 bottle of foreign wine. Three alleged smugglers were arrested, BDR sources said.

The arrested persons were handed over to Akhaura police station and Akhaura GRP police, from where they were sent to court. The court sent them to Brahmenbaria Jail hajat, police said.
