President, PM greet Muslim leaders

On the occasion of holy the Eid-ul-Azha, President Iajuddin Ahmed and Prime Minister Khaleda Zia conveyed their heartiest felicitations and warmest greetings to the Heads of State and Heads of Government of Muslim countries of the world.In separate messages, they expressed their confidence that the holy Eid-ul-Azha would further unite the Muslim Ummah to work for the continued advancement and glory of Islam and also to further consolidate and deepen their bonds of brotherhood and cooperation for the greater interest of Islam and benefit of mankind. They wished good health, happiness and personal well-being and long life of the leaders of the Muslim countries and for the continued peace, progress and prosperity of their people. Meanwhile,the heads of government and state of Muslim countries have sent messages greeting President Iajuddin Ahmed and the people of Bangladesh. In their messages they prayed to almighty Allah for the continued peace and prosperity of Bangladesh and welfare of the people. The statesmen of the Islamic nations also wished "greater unity" of the Muslim ummah. The messages, so far received, were from Amir of the State of Qatar Hamad Bin Khalif Al-Thani, President of Iran Sayyed Mohammad Khatami, President of the Maldives Mamun Abdul Gayum, President of Syria Bashar Al Assad, President of Sudan Omar Hassan Ahmed El Bashir, President of the State of Palestine Yasser Arafat, heir apparent of the State of Qatar Tamim Bin Hamad Al-Thani, Prime Minister of Qatar Abdullah Bin Khalifa Al-Thani, Prime Minister of the Kingdom of Bahrain Khalifa Bin Salman Al Khalifa, Foreign Minister of Palestine Farouq Kadomi and OIC Secretary General Abdelouahed Belkeziz. Puja Parishad BSS adds,Acting President and General Secretary of Bangladesh Puja Udjapan Parishad Sri Chitta Ranjan Sarkar and Sri Joyanta Sen Dipu and President of Mahanagar Sarbojanin Puja committee Swapan Kumar Saha and General Secretary Sri Mangal Chandra Ghosh greeted the members of Muslim community on the occasion of holy Eid-ul-Azha. In a joint statement, they prayed for continued peace, progress and prosperity of the country on the occasion of holy Eid-ul-Azha.
