'Help end plight of Bihari people'


Speakers at a book launching ceremony have called on all concerned to help bring an end to the plight of the Bihari people living in Bangladesh.

They also laid emphasis on the need to devise strategies for reintegration of the community into mainstream society.

Prof Serajul Islam Chowdhury was the chief guest at the launching of Ahmed Ilias' book titled 'Biharis: The Indian Émigrés in Bangladesh' held at the National Press Club on Thursday, said a press release.

Chaired by Prof C R Abrar, the publication ceremony was also addressed by journalists Ataus Samad, Enayetullah Khan, Afsan Chowdhury, M I Faruqui and Amjad Hossin Sarker MP.

Poet Asad Chowdhury moderated the programme while Ashraful Huq Babu gave vote of thanks on behalf of the organisers, the Shamsul Huq Foundation, Syedpur and Association of Young Generation of Urdu Speaking Community.
