Tk 2.8 lakh robbed from Butterfly showroom

Robbers looted cash and valuables said to be worth over Tk 2.8 lakh from Butterfly showroom at Darussalam Road in Mirpur-1 on Friday night. Posing as customers, 7/8 youths entered the showroom at block B at around 9:00pm to inquire about prices of different items. At one stage, some of them whipped out arms and took hostage all six staff at gunpoint and asked showroom Manager Badrul Alam to hand over entire cash. The robbers took Tk 2.64 lakh from the cash counter, Tk 5,683 from Badrul, a mobile phone and a ring. While leaving, the gang warned them of further attack if they shouted. Badrul filed a case with Mirpur Police Station. Police could not recover the sum or arrest any of the robbers till 8:00 last night.
