Reports on arrest of Indian militants in Dhaka false: home ministry
UNB, Dhaka
The home ministry yesterday rejected as baseless and fabricated some reports ran by a section of local and Indian media that some Indian militants were recently arrested in Dhaka."We would like to categorically state that the reports are false, baseless and concocted and have been fabricated to strain the friendly relations between Bangladesh and India. No such incident took place in the capital city of Dhaka," a home ministry press release said. It said, "We would also like to reassert the position of the government that Bangladesh has never allowed or assisted insurgent groups of any country for acts against that country and this policy was being pursued by the government consistently and rigorously." The release said all past allegations of insurgency or intelligence activities allegedly carried out against India from the soil of Bangladesh had been thoroughly investigated but could not be substantiated. Bangladesh remains committed to curbing ruthlessly and decisively all forms of terrorism and terrorist outfits, the release added.
