Banshkhali arson victims get aid in rehabilitation

The family victimised in November 19 Banshkhali carnage received Tk 4 lakh for its rehabilitation Wednesday.In the early hours of November 19, 2003, 11 persons including eight women and a 4-day-old boy of the family were incinerated at Shadhanpur Shilpara under Banshkhali upazila. Reportedly instructed by the prime minister, State Minister for Environment and Forest Jafrul Islam Chowdhury, also the local member of parliament, handed over the money to the members of the family at a ceremony held at the upazila headquarters. Sons of Tejendra Lal Shil and his brother Shachindra Lal Shil, received the money from the state minister. Addressing a gathering on this occasion, the state minister reiterated their vow to punish those involved in the atrocity and announced a Tk 10 thousand award for nabbing any of the criminals. Government officials, local politicians and the elite were present on the occasion.
