Salma Sobhan laid to rest

Namaz-e-janaza of Barrister Salma Sobhan, a social worker and human-rights activist, was held at Gulshan Central Mosque after Zohr prayers yesterday.

Earlier, sons Zafar Sobhan and Babar Sobhan received her body from the BIRDEM mortuary. The body was brought back to her Gulshan residence and kept there for sometime.

Workers of Ain O Salish Kendra, family members, friends and admirers of the late human-rights activist paid their last respect to her.

She was laid to rest at her family graveyard at Begum Bazaar in the city.

Her qulkhwani will be held at Gulshan Central Mosque today (Friday) after Asr prayers.

Salma Sobhan, wife of Professor Rehman Sobhan, an economist and former adviser to the caretaker government, died of cardiac arrest at her Gulshan residence in the early hours of Tuesday.
