No Army HQ response to Hasina's request for homage to

The Army Headquarters did not respond to the request of Leader of the Opposition in Parliament and Awami League (AL) President Sheikh Hasina for making arrangements for her to pay her last homage to the 15 Bangladesh peacekeepers killed in the December 25 air crash in Benin.

"The Awami League chief could not join the programme at the (Zia International) airport as the authorities did not respond to the request, but we are still waiting for a positive response," Awami League General Secretary Abdul Jalil said at 8:00 last night.

In a letter to Chief of Army Staff Lieutenant General Hasan Mashhud Chowdhury on Tuesday, Hasina's Personal Secretary Nazrul Islam Khan requested the Army Headquarters to make necessary arrangements so that the AL president and other central leaders could pay their homage either at the airport when the bodies would be flown in or at any other convenient place and time.
