Robbers loot Tk 5 lakh in goods in Ctg

Goods and valuables reportedly worth around Tk 5 lakh were looted and one person was injured in two separate robberies in the coastal upazila of Banshkhali in the district yesterday.Sources said a group of robbers looted 16 shops at Ekkaittya Pukur and Tunirpole areas of Chandrapur village under Pukuria union and took away goods said to be worth around Tk. 3.5 lakh. They also beat up staff of the shops and injured one Zakir Hossain, 70, seriously. The elderly man was admitted to Chittagong Medical College Hospital. The robbers then swooped on the residence of one Ahsan Uddin Member, but fled facing strong resistance. Later, the same band of robbers attacked one Borhan Uddin's house and looted goods reportedly worth over Tk 1 lakh there. Goods and valuables worth over Tk 3 lakh were looted from six shops and one house in a robbery at Kalupur union under the same Banshkhali upazila in the early hours of Wednesday.
