6 bullet-hit as Sarbahara men open fire in Barisal

At least six villagers received gunshots as Sarbahara Party men opened fire to make their escape after a futile attempt to extort money at a village in Uzirpur here, police said.The incident took place Friday night when the armed outlawed activists were trapped in an electric wire ambush as they went to the house of one Monir Hawladar to extort Tk one lakh. They snapped the electric line firing gunshots to rescue one of their gang members from the ambush. They then sprayed 100 rounds of bullets on the people of Guthia village who tried to round them up. The six critically bullet injured villagers are now being treated at Sher-e-Bangla Medical College Hospital. They are Mizan, 25, Jahangir, 32, Santu, 28, Shah Alam, 42, Montu, 24, and Swapan, 25.
